How is damp in a home fixed?
First by identifying its origin — ingress, rising damp or condensation — because each type needs a different treatment; applying the wrong fix is the most expensive repair there is.
Flat roofs are our daily bread: we waterproof with bituminous membranes or sprayed polyurea depending on the roof's use. On older façades we combine crack repair with breathable renders — covering a damp wall with plastic paint only hides the problem for a couple of winters.
Patching the leak vs. re-waterproofing the whole roof
Quick answer: A spot repair works when the membrane is under 10 years old and the damage is localised; with old membranes, patching means chasing one leak after another.
